FIVE WAYS TO STAY AWAY FROM NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

We are surrounded by negativity and it affects us at every instance of our lives. It pushes us away from enjoying the positivity that life has to offer. We should steer clear from negative thoughts, people, and events. There are several steps you can take to try to avoid these.

Stay away from negative and incoherent discussions
A negative person constantly complains, criticizes, and finds problems in everything. To turn away from this negativity, when you have a conversation with them, ask them “How will you solve this problem?” or, “How can this situation be improved?” The person will either think quietly, or divert the discussion elsewhere. This is how asking questions can stop or resolve the issue. In addition, negative people’s arguments are often incoherent, and they tend to involve others in their own discussions. It is wise not to participate in such discussions. Suppose someone is overreacting to a rule in your office, but the rest are adapting well to that rule. It is conscientiously best to stay away, and refrain from participating in that discussion and make no comments at all.

Happiness is in your own hands
Successful people have a positive attitude. If they are satisfied and happy with their work, they are not bothered by someone else’s comment. So, consider that when interacting with a negative person. Ask yourself, “Is it possible for me to change this person’s negative mindset?” If the answer is “no”, then know that it is foolish to be frustrated by comparing yourself to their standards. Their comments will simply be unpleasant. From the day you start validating yourself from other people’s comments, you will hand over the key to your happiness. To avoid this, keep yourself away from their negativity and define your own standards of happiness.

Talk about the solutions, not the problems
When you engage in a conversation with a negative person, you wonder, “Why is he like that? Why doesn’t he stop? How annoying!” But instead of being frustrated, consider these as inevitable interactions that you must regularly have because there will always be negativity. Try to think of the solutions without inviting further frustration by thinking about the problem.
Whether you feel bored or uncomfortable in such a situation is entirely up to you! If you do not want to be frustrated, you yourself can be the solution and turn that negativity into a positive attitude.

Learn from previous experiences
In order to protect themselves from any future suffering or mistakes, one must make decisions based on previous experiences. Failure is not the key to success; learning from failures is.

Shape your thoughts into reality
The comments of others may fill us with negativity at times. If someone speaks ill of us, we may think about it day and night. It brings no good to us and causes us to suffer from anxiety and inferiority complexes. If you think the comments from people are constructive criticisms, then work on your lackings.
If not, shake it off! Otherwise, it will have a lasting effect on your mind.
It helps to share your thoughts with your friends and family. Closed ones can help give you an alternative point of view from conventional thinking. Your brain is usually engrossed in so many deep thoughts that you can’t always come up with a solution. So, share your problem with a trusted friend, colleague, or a close person and get help. It is a very effective way to change the continuity of negative thoughts.
